The Great Backyard Bird Count
In order to protect the birds of the world, we need to be actively engaged in tracking their health. However, with 10,000 species across the globe, this is a daunting task. Lucky news - you can help!

Scientists have been able to rely in the past on reports of birds from enthusiasts no matter where they have been watching, be it their front porch, the city, the park, or anywhere else. During the Great Backyard Bird Count, participants watch for birds and take note. This event was founded in 1998 by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society. Bird Canada joined to extend the project's reach in 2009, and in 2013 the project began to be affiliated with eBird.

If you are interested in monitoring birds for a 30-minute sit at the Berthoud Community Library, come in to the Library today and sign up on the sheet next to our coffee cart! You can also participate independently by visiting this link: https://www.birdcount.org/participate/

We plan on using both the Merlin Bird ID app and the eBird Mobile app, however you can also use the eBird website.
