  • How do I get a Library card? What do I need to get one?
    You can get a library card at the front desk. All you need is a valid Colorado I.D with your current address. If you don’t have your current address on your I.D, or don’t have a Colorado I.D, you will need proof of address. For proof of address bring any official piece of mail (bills, insurances, etc). As long as you live in Colorado, you can have a library card with us.
  • How old do you have to be to get a Library card?
    You can be any age. If you are under 18 you will need a parent or a guardian with you.
  • Where is the Library?
    The Library is located at 236 Welch Avenue, Berthoud Colorado.
  • What are your hours?
    We have extended our hours! The building is open Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 10AM to 6PM. We are open from 10AM to 8PM on Wednesdays and Thursdays. On Saturdays the building is open from 10am to 4PM. Curbside pick up runs Monday through Saturday from 10AM to 5PM.
  • Are you accepting book/movie donations?
    Yes! We are currently accepting book and movie donations Monday-Friday. We are unable to accept self help, textbooks, or magazines.
  • Can I donate money to the Library?
    The Friends of the Berthoud Library is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that raises funds for the Berthoud Community Library. To donate to the Friends of the Library, please visit their website at https://www.bclfriends.org/ .
  • Can I volunteer at the Library?
    We are accepting volunteers at this time. Please visit our Volunteer page for an application.
  • Visit our catalog.
    Try searching our Catalog. If you are unable to find the item you are looking for through our catalog, continue to the next FAQ question.
  • What do I do if I can’t find an item in the catalog?
    If you search for an item in the catalog and do not see it, you will scroll towards the bottom of the catalog to the "Available Items in Prospector" section. From there you will click the button that says "SEE MORE RESULTS IN PROSPECTOR. CHOOSE ALLIANCE - ASPENCAT". If the item you are looking for is available to be sent to our Library, it will show as an option on the page you are directed to. From there you will select the "Request it" button. Then you will select "Alliance - AspenCat Libraries". It will then prompt you to fill out your name and library card number, then select your library which is "Berthoud Library District."   • How long will it take to receive my hold?
    It usually takes between 1-3 weeks to receive your hold. Times can vary depending on how many other people have the same item on hold, and how new the item is.
  • How many books can I check out?
    You can check out an unlimited amount of books.
  • How many movies can I check out?
    You can check out up to 15 DVDs.
  • Can I renew the State Parks Backpack?
    No one can place a hold on a State Park Backpack.
  • Can I check out more than one board game? Can anyone check them out? Can they be renewed?
    You can only check out one board game at a time, and only adults can check them out. Board games cannot be renewed.
  • How long can you check out an item? How many times can I renew an item?
    You can check out an item for 3 weeks. Books can be renewed up to 2 times and movies can be renewed once, as long as no one else has it on hold.
  • Where do I return items?
    Items can be returned in either the inside book drop or the outside book drop, which is located on the east side of the building. If you are returning a board game or State Park backpack, it must be returned in the building at the front desk.
  • Do you charge overdue fines?
    We do not charge overdue fines.
  • What happens if I lose or damage an item?
    If an item is lost or damaged you will need to pay the full amount of the item with either cash or check. We do not accept card payments.
  • Can I get a list of items I have checked out?
    You sure can. When you come in, just ask us to print it out.
  • What do I do if I'm not receiving any emails from the Library?
    Make sure to check your spam. If you still aren’t receiving them, give us a call or come in for further assistance.
  • Do you offer technology help and/or coaching?
    Our Technology and Marketing Specialist offers technology coaching and help Wednesdays 4:30-6:30PM and Fridays from 3PM-5PM. You will need to make an appointment. Please click here for more information.
  • Do you have a copier? What sizes of paper do you have?
    We do have a copier that is able to print 8 ½” x 11”(letter), 8 ½” x 14”(legal), and 11” x 17” (tabloid).
  • How much does it cost to print?
    The first 10 pages of black and white and first 5 pages of color are free. After that black and white pages are $0.20 each and color pages are $0.50 each. We only accept cash or check.
  • Can I print from my phone?
    You can print from your phone. Instructions are posted next to the printer.
  • Can I print from my USB drive?
    You can plug your USB drive into the top right side of the printer. On the printer screen you will select “Access stored files”, then you will click “Memory Media”. The name of your USB will then be on the screen and you can select the files you want to print.
  • Can I print from my laptop?
    At this time you are unable to print from your laptop. You will need to print from a USB, from your phone, or from one of our computers.
  • Can I use my own paper in the Library's printer?
    No. We offer black and white or color printing in multiple sizes. If you need a special print project beyond that you will need to visit a print shop. Local Print Shops: 1.   • Can I have something notarized?
    We no longer offer Notary Services.
  • Can I scan a document and send it via email? How much does that cost?
    Yes, you can scan documents through our printer. There is no charge for scanning.
  • Can I fax something? How much does it cost?
    Staff can fax documents through the fax machine in our back office. Bring the documents and the fax number to the front desk for assistance. There is no charge for faxing.
  • Do you offer storytime?
    We offer Sunshine Storytime on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:30AM. Beginning on May 1st, we will begin offering three different Storytimes. On Tuesdays we will have Bouncing Baby Storytime at 10:30AM. On Wednesdays we will have Terrific Toddler Storytime at 10:30AM. On Fridays we will have Perky Pre-K Storyime at 10:30AM.
  • How can I see what events and classes are coming up?
    You can look at our newsletter, Facebook events, and/or click here to view our events and classes.
  • Do you offer events and classes for all ages?
    We offer events for all different ages throughout the year. Any age restrictions for an event will be listed in the event description.
